Where it all started
My name is Tyler Brownfield, and Old Soul didn't begin in a barbershop—it began in my basement. Just a barber chair, my tools, and an idea.
After completing barber school in Vancouver in 2014, I opened my first barbershop in early 2017. Later that year, I traveled to Rotterdam to further refine my craft, but even then I knew I was building toward something more. My first shop had a different name, and in many ways it was a different concept, but the blueprint for Old Soul was always there. I just hadn't found it yet.
In 2024, that vision finally became reality. Old Soul Barber Bar was born.
Not long after, Old Soul Brand followed. What began with a small collection of handcrafted beard products has grown into a line of hair, beard, and skin care products, all developed in our own barbershop with the same commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
Today, Old Soul is more than a barbershop. It's a brand, a community, and a place for people who appreciate timeless style, honest work, and things built to last.
Together with my wife, Suzanne, and our team, we're continuing to build that vision one haircut, one product, and one relationship at a time.
